Poor oral health can hinder children’s academic success

Data on 1,500 low-income children in the Los Angeles Unified School District revealed that those with toothaches were four times more likely to receive a low grade point average than peers without any oral pain. Researchers also found that oral health problems were linked to missed school days, and accessibility to dental care was a major factor for children who missed school due to oral health.
