Soft drink firms to add calorie counts to vending machines

Major soft drink companies are partnering with the American Beverage Association to launch the Calories Count Vending Program, which will bring more low-calorie beverages, calorie counts and display messages encouraging lower-calorie choices to vending machines next year. The program will start in municipal buildings in Chicago and San Antonio, Texas, and includes a competition with a $5 million prize to the city that shows the biggest wellness gains among employees.
