Children with chronic medical conditions were more likely to be affected by medical errors than other children, at a rate of 5.3 per 100 hospital discharges, compared with 1.3 for pediatric patients who did not have a chronic illness, Ohio State University researchers reported in the journal Pediatrics. The study found the risk of errors, including adverse effects of drugs, increased with the number of chronic conditions per child. Medscape (free registration) (9/10), Reuters (9/11)
