CMS issues guidance for exchange-sold health plans

HHS compliance reviewers will be looking for health plans sold through Affordable Care Act exchanges to meet certain standards, including accessibility for people with disabilities. Carriers may not reject applicants based on age, race, disability or other factors and cannot use marketing practices or plan designs that effectively discourage people with significant health needs from applying. Moreover, producers and other “delegated and downstream entities” must not discourage people with substantial health needs from enrolling. National Underwriter Life & Health (4/10)
