Women with luminal A tumors, the most common and least aggressive type of breast cancer, remain at risk of dying from the condition more than a decade after diagnosis, according to a long-term study published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention. Women with HER2-enriched and luminal B breast cancer had about double the risk of death than those with luminal A tumors. “The findings of this study indicate that it is important to consider breast cancer molecular subtypes in determining the optimal treatment for women with breast cancer,” the study’s author said.
