Forty-six percent of uninsured single young adults (ages 18 to 34) who are eligible for the health insurance marketplace could pay $50 or less per month for coverage in 2014, according to a statement by HHS. They can purchase a bronze plan for $50 per month or less after tax credits, based on an analysis of data in 34 states. In these states, 66% may be able to pay $100 or less for coverage in 2014. Under the Affordable Care Act, advanced payment of the premium tax credits will be available to help eligible individuals and families afford insurance coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Young adults account for 41% of the uninsured population.
