Fewer U.S. children are without health insurance coverage

The percentage of uninsured U.S. children dropped from 9.7% in 2008 to 7.5% in 2012, with big gains seen among those from low-income households, according to a report sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Lower rates of private insurance were offset by an increase in the number of children covered by public health plans, including Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, data showed.
