Higher diabetes risk seen with antidepressant use

Antidepressant use was associated with elevated risk of developing type 2 diabetes, a study in Diabetologia revealed. After adjusting for age, BMI and risk factors such as hypertension, use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors was correlated with a 10% increase in risk, and other antidepressants were linked to a 26% increase.
