A U.K. study found the risk of being killed while walking was five times higher for older adults, compared with younger pedestrians. The report in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society found older and younger people had a similar risk of dying while driving a vehicle, leading Dr. David Carr of Washington University in St. Louis to comment that as baby boomers age, more attention is needed to make pathways and transportation areas safer.
