Efforts are well underway to change the way health care providers are compensated. The trend is moving away from fee-for-service toward payment for a bundled set of services, according to research commissioned by the Health Care Incentives Improvement Institute. While some early commercial-sector adopters have abandoned bundled payments, other payers and providers in the public and commercial sectors are making it a part of their permanent reimbursement strategy.
