Obese people who were “metabolically healthy” had a 38% lower mortality risk compared with those who were obese and metabolically unhealthy, and a similar risk as people who had a normal weight and metabolic profile, according to a study in the European Heart Journal. The data show that cardiorespiratory fitness makes people healthier regardless of weight and support the idea that exercise can help fight the effects of obesity, the study author said.
