Study: Moderate exercise has positive effect on women’s bones

Moderate physical activity for two hours a week helps premenopausal women maintain healthy bones, researchers in Saudi Arabia reported. The study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism found lower levels of sclerostin, a marker for decreased bone formation, and higher levels of serum-insulin-like growth factor-1, which increases bone matrix deposition, were associated with exercise.
